From Chaos to Connection: Why I Partner with AI Like a Mother

ai parenting May 19, 2025

You know that feeling when your kid announces they have a test tomorrow—as you're pulling into the school drop-off line? The one where your stomach drops, your mind races through everything you should have done to help them prepare, and you're already mentally calculating if you can squeeze in a study session between soccer practice and dinner prep?

Yeah. I've been there too.

Hi, I'm Julie Kelleher, and I'm a full-time mom with a full-time job who's learned that "having it all together" is basically a myth we tell ourselves while frantically searching for matching socks at 7:30 AM.

The Moment Everything Changed

Picture this: It's a Tuesday morning, and my 2nd grader casually mentions she forgot about her reading test while we walk out the door on the way to school. Old me would have launched into panic and self-judgment mode—scouring her backpack for reading worksheets that we missed, wondering why I can’t seem to stay on top of school work this year (or ever), and when realizing nothing can be done in 10 minutes before the bell rings, sending her off feeling unprepared while I carried the mom-guilt all day.

But this time was different.

Instead, I pulled out my phone, opened ChatGPT, and asked for help creating grade-appropriate sight word stories for VCe words (you know, those vowel-consonant-e combinations like "face," "bite," and "cute" that somehow escaped my memory from my own elementary days).

Within seconds, I had two short stories perfect for her reading level, activities we could do in the car, and a mini study guide that turned our drive to school into a confidence-boosting practice session. She walked into that building feeling ready instead of rattled.

That's when it hit me: AI isn't about replacing the human connection in parenting—it's about creating more space for it.

Does Anyone Else Out There Feel Like They're Drowning in the Daily Parenting Hustle?

If you're reading this and nodding along, you're not alone. Modern parenting feels like being asked to juggle homework help, meal prep, emotional coaching, transportation coordination, and bedtime routines—all while maintaining some semblance of your own identity and possibly a career.

For nearly two decades, I've worked in education and tech, helping organizations cut through complexity and find clarity. But it wasn't until I became a mom that I realized my biggest challenge wasn’t in the day-to-day of a corporate job—it was in my own living room, trying to be present for my kids while managing all the behind-the-scenes work that makes family life run.

In early 2024, I started experimenting heavily with AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini at work and saw massive benefits in time saving and the ability to scale my capacity. This was huge for me as a consultant where oftentimes I’m an individual contributor. Naturally, I started to explore how those same tools could help on the homefront. That's where my "partnership with AI like a mother" began.

Imagine If You Could Reclaim Hours Every Week on Parenting Tasks, While Spending LESS Time Using Tech?

What if I told you that the same technology everyone's talking about could help you:

  • Turn a forgotten homework assignment into a manageable study session (in the back seat of your car, no less)
  • Transform "I'm bored" complaints into creative adventures with activities tailored to your child's interests
  • Generate screen-free games for long car rides that actually keep kids engaged
  • Create simple, quick meals from whatever's currently in your fridge
  • Find the right words to help your child navigate tricky social situations

This isn't about becoming a tech expert or spending hours learning complicated tools. It's about discovering simple ways to let AI handle the research, planning, prep and scheduling work so you can focus on what really matters: showing up for your kids.

AI has become my parenting sidekick—not because I want to automate my relationship with my kids, but because I want to automate the busy work that keeps me from connecting with them. I used to think that being a good mom meant doing everything myself, from scratch, with a Pinterest-worthy presentation (full disclosure, this still creeps in every once in a while). What I've discovered is that being a good mom means being present, engaged, and available for the moments that matter most.
